Art plays its part

Anton Zhou

Director

Anton Zhou is a Sugar Land based artist and student of the global studies academy at clements high school. Currently in his third year of AP studio art, Anton has truly experienced the benefits of a visual arts education. He has always been passionate about visual arts and believes it is a vital component of a student's success. After returning from his inter-cultural exchange program in Ecuador as a youth ambassador and learning about community development, Anton created a community based initiative that would promote art in school. Since the beginning of his junior year, he has been involved in service learning at his local middle school. Entering his senior year, Anton has decided for his Community based initiative to evolve into His capstone project for the global studies academy.

Anton continues to research the role of visual arts in the lives of today's youth. Specifically, he has formed research on the benefits of a visual arts education and career development in the arts and has even trained himself to be an instructor. Art has shaped Anton into a leader and creative thinker, and he believes that the same can be achieved by younger art students today. Thus, he continues to expand his community based initiative that emphasizes the importance of a visual arts education and helps younger students launch their own art careers.
